As I worked on today's painting, it occurred to me that this is the first non-Thoroughbred I've painted this month. Not including my Saratoga pony, of course. Well...that's not fair, of course the pony counts! Am I forgetting someone else?
This Warmblood filly is TB on her dam's side, however, so I'm not straying too far from my apparent (and admitted) preoccupation. I painted her half-sister in the first Thirty Days, back in November 2008. Despite being orphaned at a very young age, this filly is growing up to be a lovely girl. She was a yearling - last summer - in my reference photo.
The painting is 5 x 7 oil on Raymar cotton canvas panel.
